The Story Behind Deutsch with Sally Academy

When people ask me where I come from, my answer is never been just one place.

I am a German citizen who was raised in Germany, where German became not only my native language but also the language of my education, my way of thinking, and my professional identity. With German and Egyptian heritage, I have had the privilege of growing up between two cultures, an experience that continues to shape the way I teach, lead, and connect with people.

My journey in German language and literature began with a degree in German Language and Literature (Germanistik). What started as a love for language, literature, and learning soon became a lifelong passion for education and helping others discover their own potential.

Over the past 25 years, I have worked as a teacher, department head, school leader, examiner, trainer, and educational consultant.

Today, leadership is at the heart of my work. As Principal of a German School Abroad and Head of the German Language Department I work closely with students, teachers, and leadership teams to foster a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and academic excellence. Alongside these leadership responsibilities, I serve as an IB German A Examiner, IGCSE German Examiner, Certified ZfA DSD Gold Trainer, and Certified ZfA Peer Inspector. My work also includes curriculum development, teacher professional development, quality management, and school improvement.

After more than 25 years in education, I wanted to make my knowledge, experience, and expertise accessible beyond the classroom. Deutsch with Sally Academy was created to extend the impact of my work beyond a single school—supporting students in achieving academic success while empowering teachers through professional development, mentoring, and educational consultancy.

Whether I am preparing students for IB German A, IB German B, the German International Abitur (GIB), DSD 2 (German Language Diplom) or working with teachers through professional development and educational consultancy, my approach has always remained the same: high expectations, genuine encouragement, structured learning, and a commitment to academic excellence.
